Hello students, parents, and friends of Grace Lutheran School. My name is Mr. Schmeling. I am very excited with the opportunity to serve you all here in the BEAUTIFUL area of Portland.
I graduated from Martin Luther College (MLC) in December 2013 as a double major with a bachelor's in both Elementary and Secondary Education. My emphasis was in Physical Education and History. I also received a minor in Coaching while participating in football, basketball, and baseball.
I grew up in Menomonie, WI since 4th grade and went on to high school at St. Croix Lutheran High School in St. Paul, MN. Before transferring to MLC, I attended the University of Wisconsin - River Falls to be a physical therapist and coach. While at MLC, I took a semester off to teach in Seoul, South Korea. What an AWESOME experience!
After dating Kimberly (Matthies) for 5 years, we tied the knot May 2, 2014. She was also a teacher and taught K-1 for 3 years at St. Matthew's in Winona, MN.
A few interests of mine include sports/exercise, being outdoors, trying new things, and spending time with family and friends.

Few Fun Facts: - I've traveled to over 40 states. - I've been skydiving. - I've taught in South Korea. - I once participated in a community "Minute to Win It" and won.
